Judy Skeel

Judy Skeel

Over the last dozen years Judy’s primary focal point has been on “art dolls”. Having worked in a variety of different art venues has made her a very versatile and knowledgeable teacher. Recent emphasis has been on fabric and ribbon manipulations as well as intricate faces. Embellishment and adornment also play a huge part in the dolls that she creates. Most recently, she has designed a number of different doll patterns which showcase the skills that she has mastered and now shares in her teaching.  She is an inspiring teacher who will peak your imagination and help you to create a doll that communicates. Welcome Judy!

Learned to create and color a face for this little purse. Judy showed how to use buttons and trinkets from the past to embellish and make this a unique way to display and show off those bits of family memorabilia. The purses are beautiful neck adornments as well as just the right size to hold credit cards and cash for hands free shopping.

Originally inspired by the incredible artist James Christensen the characters created in this class are distinctive and amazing to embellish! Judy's  showed techniques for adapting ribbons and trims as well fabric scraps to embellish these characters. Needle sculpted and detailed faces add to the personality of these dolls. Ranging in height from 8 to 12 inches they will stand alone.
