Joan
is a great beader and doll maker. She made her first doll 24 years ago
when her oldest granddaughter was born. A couple of years after that she
wandered into a bead shop and since that point onward she has been
hooked. The marriage of the two arts is wonderful. Those of you who saw
the wonderful beaded doll necklace that she donated to the opportunity
raffle last year know what we are talking about.
She’s a self taught beader who has taught beading classes for
15 years. She is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. Originally from
California
she now resides in
Vancouver
,
WA
. She’s a great lady and it is wonderful to
have her teaching at Camp Doll U this year. |

Beading for Dolls
|
|
This is a great class to help you get your feet wet in the wonderful world of beading. Joan will take you through some of the basic stitches. The picture to the right is an example of what can be accomplished using these simple procedures. You will learn how to do the flat peyote stitch, brick stitch, spiral stitch, fringe and if time permits, a little bit of bead embroidery. You will make a sampler which will include an example of each stitch covered in class. Students will only need to bring scissors, a light/and or magnifying glass if you need it for close work.
