Arley Berryhill

Arley Berryhill

Arley has an extensive background in art, design, theater, makeup and costuming.

He has been making a living creating costumes, masks and hats for the past 25

years. He has worked in stage and television and currently lives and works near

Las Vegas. If you ever wanted to learn about design and costuming, this is your

opportunity. His first dolls were made entirely from paper clay but more recently

he has ventured into the realm of cloth dolls. He has won several awards including

first place in the Sulky challenge as well as The Treasures of the Gypsy Challenge

in 2004. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and artistic talent to the

table. We are very happy to welcome him to this year Camp Doll U.

This is a doll costuming class. Students will start with a basic pre sewn doll body (“La Femme” is a good choice). You will learn how to take a pattern off of the doll’s body using pattern draping techniques. You will transfer your draped pattern to fabric and sew a complete basic dress. You will learn proper proportions basic pattern drafting, good design theory and design alterations. Students will leave with a basic sleeve, a bodice and skirt that will fit their doll’s body.
